Apple AirPods 2: Are They Worth It

New Apple's AirPods second generation. Are they worth it or not? Let's know more details together. Peace be upon you all. This is your host, Faisal Alsaif. Apple issued new AirPods that support wireless charging. It is the second generation of AirPods. It has some features. I will explain them to you and explain if it is worth buying them. The only external change is that the charging indicator is on the outside of the case. Once the AirPods are placed in a wireless charger, the charging indicator will light up. The indicator will also light up when pairing and when the battery is discharged. For pairing, the indicator will light up with white color, and when the battery is discharged, the indicator will light up with a red color. If the case is charged and paired, the indicator will light up with a green color. The back of the case also has the same design and button, but the placement of the button on the new ones is a bit higher than the previous generation. Old accessories for the old AirPods will also fit the second generation. One of the main questions I was asked about the new AirPods is if the audio quality is better or the same. 

According to the Apple website, the sound quality is still the same. Yet, the new AirPods have a new CPU called H1, which helps with reduced latency with gaming and music listening. Latency won't be high compared to the previous generation. The difference is small, though. Also, the battery will be 50% longer. If you have a problem with the battery of the first generation, the new AirPods will be better. The new AirPods also support the Hey Siri's feature. If you want to use this feature, you must be on 12.2 version of iOS Then, you will be able to use the Hey Siri feature to command Siri to play music, make phone calls, or receive directions. Also, with the new H1 processor, pairing it with your device will be quicker. The first generation didn't have a problem with pairing speeds, but on the new ones, the pairing speed is better. The same speed will be applied to iPads and Mac devices. The ecosystem will be better with the new H1 CPU designed by Apple. No one can deny that AirPods are one of the most successful headsets. It is not logical to make significant changes to this product. The change is minor on these new AirPods. People still love them. I must also mention that the new AirPods support BT5. This support will give the AirPods a better range but with less bandwidth. 

The connection, though, will be better. Apple ecosystem will be better with BT5 support. What is wireless charging? First, you have to have a wireless charger with Qi certification. All devices that support reverse wireless charging are Qi-certified. Once you place the AirPods on wireless charging, they will start charging. The light indicator will light up with a red color. Listening time on the new AirPods will also be better. Calling time will also be more. You must evaluate your needs before buying these AirPods. Apple provides 3 options, the first one is the new AirPods with wireless charging case. According to the UAE version of the Apple website, it will cost 829 Derham or 199 USD. The second option is the new AirPods but with no wireless charging case. It will have the H1 CPU and BT5. According to the website, these will cost 679 Derham or 159 USD. The third option is to buy the wireless charging case, which will cost 329 Derham or 79 USD. If you care about wireless charging, you can buy it and use your old AirPods, like how I did. Or you can buy new headphones that support wireless charging. If you don't have a wireless charger at home or you've never used it before, it would be illogical to buy a wireless charging case. All of the options can be charged with the iPhone cables. But if you want the H1 CPU and BT5, then go for the new AirPods, but if you only want the wireless charging case, then go for it. 

The same sensors on the old AirPods are still on the new ones: It has the Beamforming mics, dual optical sensor, motion-detecting accelerometer and the speech detecting accelerometer. These sensors are still in the new version. If you buy the wireless charging case only, the printing on the back of the box will show that this case is compatible with the AirPower. What is AirPower? It is a product from Apple. We are very excited about it. It is not officially released yet. Many devices, whether from Samsung or Huawei support reverse wireless charging. I tried it on the P30 Pro and it worked. The P30 Pro wireless charging capacity is 5w. The new AirPods support 5w of wireless charging. If you charge the AirPods for 15 minutes, you can use it for 2 hours of talk time, or 15 hours of listening to music. Pairing with Apple devices makes an ecosystem of it. It is normal all manufacturers do the same.
